1. How a Teacher's Verbal Behaviors Impact Students' Affective Learning - An Analysis from a Christian Perspective

This study examined two aspects of English teaching-and-learning education. One is to examine teachers' verbal behaviors and their impact on college English major students and the other aspect takes a closer look at the master teacher, Jesus, and how He implemented effective verbal behaviors while teaching. There were one hundred and fifty-one participants who answered the questionnaire voluntarily and anonymously. Descriptive statistics and the Pearson correlation were conducted to conclude the results. A positive influence on students' affective learning, five affective facets included: (1) recommended behaviors, (2) course content, (3) the instructor, (4) engagement in practice in class, and (5) enrollment with related content. Frequency indicated a positive outcome (bipolar scale 1-6, calculated 5 and 6) ranging from 33%-81%. The lowest was on engagement, the highest fell on students' preference for the instructor. The Pearson correlation indicated that teachers' verbal immediacy behaviors were positively and significantly correlated with students' affective learning, r=.443, p<.01. The lowest affective facet, engagement, appears to be a common phenomenon for classrooms nowadays. This study's second aspect examined how our master teacher, Jesus, dealt with the people He was approaching by initiating that engagement with wisdom, patience, and care. Jesus' supreme purpose was and is to meet individual needs, changing lives from the inside out. The end of this manuscript provides some limitations of this study with some suggestions for future research and Christian educators.

2. Student Learning Experiences from Industry-Academia Cooperation in Christian Media Education - Case Study of the Christian Character Youth Drama Running to You

Industry-academia collaboration is one of the best ways to narrow the gap between colleges and industry, which is one of the major goals of current higher education in Taiwan. This study examined the case of Running to You, a Christian youth drama, which is a product of industry-academia collaboration between Taihong Film Studio and Christ's College Taipei. This study employed two theories, experiential learning and role modelling, to see what the students learned from the filming process, and from a Christian professional. It used open-ended questions and in-depth interviews to obtain the responses of director and 6 students who played leading characters of. The result shows that industry-academia collaboration can enhance students' experiential learning and their professional knowledge. In addition, a suitable Christian professional role model is a key element to influence students’ faith journey and inspire their kind actions toward others.

3.The Ideological Perspectives on the Gifted Educational in Taiwan, England, and Sweden

Generally speaking, children are unanimously said to be gifted when their ability is significantly above the norm for their age, yet for many years, there have been arguments over the practice of gifted education, especially after the recent US federal education initiative, No Child Left behind (2002), whose goal is to bring proficiency of all students to grade level, was signed into US law in 2002. The paper aims to penetrate the realm of the gifted education in three contexts, Taiwan, England, and Sweden, which may respectively represent the ideology of conservativism, liberalism, and social democracy to some extent, though not totally ideologically pure to one another. Worldwide ideologically different responses to the practice of gifted education are examined in this paper from three policies: the identification procedure of the gifted, the gifted teacher training and requirements, and the gifted education curriculum and placement in Taiwan, England, and Sweden.

1. Emily Dickinson's Brittle Pier

As carefully as Emily Dickinson guarded her privacy, she did let slip, into the lines of her poetry, her deepest spiritual longings. It is remarkable that she did so, but perhaps she thought that the poems themselves would never be published, never be known; and thus her secrets hidden forever. Or did she? All her poems reveal a longing to tell "someone" about her inner self; and none are more poignant or moving than these: poems of spiritual longing. We will take the best of them one by one and explore what they reveal. The following review is taken from Schorr's literary weblog: The Morning Frigate: A Journey into All Things Literary (https://themorningfrigate.com).

2. Learning Smarter Teaching from the Master Teacher-Jesus

This study explored how Jesus taught 2000 years ago. He lived what He taught, most importantly, many of His great teaching approaches have shown Jesus completely demonstrated the flipped education we are learning to implement in classrooms nowadays. His life was a great example to all His students. Moreover, He demonstrated great qualities of a "Master Teacher." This qualitative study was conducted using interviews. Seven Christian educators who have been teaching more than a decade volunteered to participate in this study. Their students ranged from junior-high to university-level students, as well as adult learners. Four interview questions developed by the author intended to understand their perspective of Jesus' teaching methods and the great characteristics Jesus demonstrated in His approach with His followers. After coding, categorizing, organizing, interpreting, and comparing, it provided substantially insightful and detailed information gathered from their years of teaching experience and faithful spiritual journey. In conclusion, Jesus' wisdom and sensitivities shown to His followers are impressive and benefit all educators who have faith in Christ. Many great qualities that Jesus demonstrated in His teaching, as our interview outcome showed, are still influential and effective. Furthermore, these great qualities do not only reveal qualities a good teacher should have but also reflect key elements underlined in flipped education. This influence, if implemented in today's classrooms, will bring noticeable improvement to teachers' way of teaching and advance student achievement.

3. Trade War and the Implication-Perspective from Christian Worldview

This study applies the event study with market model method to test the trade war impact effect on the stock prices of steel industry in the Taiwan market. The results reveal that the abnormal returns are statistically significant which indicates the existence of a tariff announcement effect. Also, the cumulative abnormal returns reverse from negative to positive and are statistically significant, supporting the overreaction hypothesis. These empirical results reveal that the stock market has a significant negative effect, and overreaction phenomena implies that most people are panicking in this uncertain environment. Most importantly, Christians should maintain a right attitude towards the unpredictability and uncertainty of the trade war so can face this kind of unstable situation. Also, Christians should distinguish issues based on the prophecies in the Bible. Additionally, we must remain calm and stable, and not panic, because the Lord Jesus said that He gave us peace. At the end of this article, the author shares how Christians should reflect on the panic caused by this uncertain environment.

標題:
Baptism: Foundation of Christian Unity or Means of Separation? The Case for the Coexistence of Multiple Baptismal Traditions

摘要:
Baptism is a rite practised by nearly all churches of all times, and already this commonality makes it a visible expression of Christian unity. In reality, however, Baptism is often experienced as expression of Christian disunity. This paper, therefore, first examines the New Testament teaching of Baptism and concludes that Baptism really is the foundation of Christian unity, unity with God and fellow Christians. Furthermore, the conclusiveness of the prominently disputed issues about the mode and the time of Baptism is examined. In a final analysis, the case is made for the acceptance of the coexistence of different baptismal views, based on practical, historical, theological and scriptural evidences. The mutual acceptance of different baptismal views, developed in different Christian traditions, allows to retain Baptism as real foundation of Christian unity. Different baptismal views can be understood as em-phasising different aspects of biblical baptismal theology, while at the same time the different views can also encourage mutual correction. The hope would be that in this way each view can become more compatible with the core of scriptural teaching while maintaining the special accentuation of its denominational tradition.
